BIOENERGY 2020+ GmbH
BIOENERGY 2020+ (BE2020) works in the AFO-project as a leader of WP5 (Development and implementation of business relationships between wood fuel supply clusters and users).
BE2020 is the scientific backbone of the Austrian biomass industry. Its major fields of activities are biomass combustion (divided into small-scale and medium- to large-scale systems), biomass gasification, and modelling and simulation. Liquid biofuel research was introduced quite recently as a novel research field.
The corporate objective of BE2020 is pre-competitive research and development in the area of "energetic biomass use". Our research covers the entire value-added chain, i.e. the biofuel production including the logistics, the energetic conversion process, the ecological interrelationships and the holistic (also economic) consideration of the topic as a whole.
More than 50 scientists are currently working at BE2020. The combustion branch covers the majority of project volume with three principal fields of interest: development of combustion systems, development of CHP systems, and development of novel solid bio fuels and the respective logistic chains. Industry co-operations are very close. For instance in the area of small-scale biomass combustion systems the co-operating companies cover approximately 65% of the central European small-scale biomass boiler market.
The BE2020 headquarter is located in Graz. A branch location is situated in Wieselburg. The AFO activities will be performed by members of the Wieselburg team.
