Tapio offers a wide range of development services and products for the sustainable management and use of all forests, including bioenergy branch. The services and products developed by Tapio are used by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the regional Forestry Centres, forest owners, contractors and other parties active in the forestry sector. Tapio has around 90 employees and works in close collaboration with the Regional Forestry Centres, that implement practical forestry operations in the field.
Regarding bioenergy, Tapio promotes sustainable use of forest-based fuels through various services and development projects. Tapio established the first recommendations for sustainable energy wood harvesting in 2005 and a model for small-sized energy wood production in young stands as a side product of high quality saw wood in
